I dreamed I was watching the presidential debate between Biden and Trump. Technically, it wasn’t a dream. When Satan’s in your dream, it’s officially a nightmare.
But, as it turns out, this wasn’t a nightmare. Something miraculous happened.
This is my second presidential debate dream this year. My first was in March. (I know, I know, I should see a therapist!)
In case you missed the first one, in that dream Trump emphatically declared on stage that sitting presidents have complete and absolute immunity. Biden demurred. But after Trump furiously persisted, Biden sat down. And then, as a sitting president, he pulled out a gun and shot Trump dead.
This second dream ended differently.
Uncle Joe and the convicted felon stood behind lecterns in the CNN studio. The moderator invited each to make an opening statement.
“President Trump, you may go first.”
You bet I will. It’s only right because my opponent will never be first. Crooked Joe Biden wasn’t even first in the last election.
Our nation is a disaster because of him. Carnage is everywhere. Vermin stream across our porous southern border. Commies infest the State Department. The deep state, the generals, the FBI, the judicial system, and our election officials are corrupt. The world mocks us. We’re facing an apocalypse. Only I can prevent it.
I am your retribution. I will make America great again!!!
“President Biden, your turn.”
Thank you.
Mr. Trump, our nation is great already and it can be even greater. But before we debate that and other things, I first want to acknowledge the great job you did while in office pushing hard to get the COVID vaccine out quicker than anyone predicted. Amazing job. Yes, you may have stumbled early in the pandemic, as anyone would have, but in the end you saved lives with that vaccine. On behalf of our nation, I thank you.
MAGA nation gasped, gulped, gagged, and glared, trying to make sense of what they’d just seen. Some viewers, not all, recognized it for what it was—character, nobility, kindness, compassion, and grace, long missing in our land.
Some, not all, wept.
Democrats gasped, gulped, gagged, and grimaced, trying to make sense of what they’d just seen. Dementia? Derangement?! Daffiness?!!
Meanwhile, Biden walked over to Trump and extended his right hand. Trump glared, bit his lower lip and …
You tell me.
How does this end?
