SHIP OF FOOLS
I’ve been reading Plato’s “The Republic.” I needed a diversion from the “ship of fools.”
Randall "Randy" Tremba was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He took a bachelor of arts in philosophy at Wheaton College, Illinois (1969), a master’s of divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena,California (1973), and a doctor of ministry at Princeton Seminary (1992). He was installed as minister of the Shepherdstown (WV) Presbyterian Church in July 1976. Forty-one years later he retired. In between, he married Paula, became a parent (Jonah, Nathanael, Amanda) and a grandfather, founded the Rumsey Radio Hour (1990), and co-founded the Shepherdstown Good News Paper with Ed Zahniser (May 1979).

I thought for sure the Republicans would throw in the towel and forfeit the race. I was wrong.
America is on fire. The towers of freedom and justice have been struck.
It’s a marvel of human ingenuity.
On the way to the beach last week we passed Kitty Hawk. And that got me thinking of Eve.

As you read this I’m at the beach in Avon, North Carolina. (Sorry. But somebody had to go!)
We have a statue of St. Francis in our flower garden. So far no one has attempted to topple it.
My birthday, last Sunday, was nearly a most unhappy one. I started the day on the edge of despair.
I was born on the 5th of July. It’s an unremarkable date.

Last night I had the strangest dream. I was watching the presidential debate between the venerable president and his cantankerous challenger.
I don’t like interruptions. Last week my work was interrupted by dogs.
A friend asked me: Are you an atheist? Someone told me you were.
I’ve got happy feet. I’m walking on sunshine.
