CRUCIFIXION (Lest Easter make us forget!)
I saw Jesus hanging from a cross. And I saw what was to come.
Randall "Randy" Tremba was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio. He took a bachelor of arts in philosophy at Wheaton College, Illinois (1969), a master’s of divinity at Fuller Theological Seminary, Pasadena,California (1973), and a doctor of ministry at Princeton Seminary (1992). He was installed as minister of the Shepherdstown (WV) Presbyterian Church in July 1976. Forty-one years later he retired. In between, he married Paula, became a parent (Jonah, Nathanael, Amanda) and a grandfather, founded the Rumsey Radio Hour (1990), and co-founded the Shepherdstown Good News Paper with Ed Zahniser (May 1979).
I saw Jesus hanging from a cross. And I saw what was to come.
I saw Jesus napping in a hammock in my backyard.
I saw Jesus in the tomb today. (I thought it would be empty, but it wasn’t.)
This is it. World War III. Every nation on the battlefield again. But this time, everyone is on the same side.
Zoom is a contagion. Everybody’s getting it.
I let the cat out this morning. She never bolts out the door. She ponders the risk.
Is this pandemic an “act of God” as some claimed HIV/AIDS, Hurricane Katrina, and the Black Death were?
There actually is such a place. It’s just outside of Huntington on the Ohio River Road heading north.
I spent this past weekend in Huntington. I was asked to give a boost to the 50 some men and women working with Coalfield Development Corporation.
I’ve been looking for Jesus most of my life. Much to my surprise, the closer I got, the less there was. Like a mirage.

I reached a personal milestone yesterday. Alas, there were no fireworks and no parades.

Soccer is a beautiful game, my sons told me years ago. I couldn’t see what they saw, but I’m beginning to.

I'm a soccer fan but not a fanatic. Alas, the game releases the inner barbarian.

Today is my birthday. I was born in 1947. Let's hear if for the boomers!
